Kanjiriqq “Murat Coşkun signature” classic   

An ingenious development has evolved from our workshop in cooperation with the percussionist Murat Coşkun: The Indian Kanjira and the Near Eastern Riqq in one instrument! Naturally, like all of our Frame Drums, it is tuneable. Besides which finely sanded indentations in the frame between the jingle pairs make playing and handling the Kanjiriqq much easier.

The Kanjiriqq is made in high quality workmanship in precious cherry wood which is multiple treated with wood oil.

And the best is that: all the jingles can be removed or changed with the tuning wrench (no extra tool is needed).

This makes the following possible:

• The changing of the jingle pairs varies the sound of the Kanjiriqq, that means that the player can choose between using light, dark brilliant or warm sounding jingles.

• Different sounding jingles can be mounted on a single Kanjiriqq so that different jingle sounds can be played interchangeably and an individual jingle sound can be composed. In this way sounds can be created that are reminiscent of a drum set.

• Through the removal of the jingles on the inside is not only the weight reduced (an advantage for the beginner Riqq player), but a blending of the volume relationship between the hide and the jingle sound is achieved (for example for studio recordings and in playing with quieter instruments).

• Another attraction of our Kanjiriqq is that: With only one jingle pair and a hide that is tuned somewhat lower you obtain a tunable Kanjira that – because of its large striking surface – makes wonderful glissandi possible.

Kanjiriqq “Murat Coşkun signature” light   

With this modified Kanjiriqq, we are offering a tunable Riqq with all the professional requirements and one that is also convincingly lightweight.

As opposed to our original Kanjiriqq “classic”, the Kanjiriqq “light” has a weight reduction of 30 %. This is achieved through the use of a smaller frame and also through the reduction in the number of jingle pairs. Instead of 10 pairs of jingles only 6 pairs are used and are so positioned that on what is principally a one-row-Riqq on one place there is a double jingle pair.

The two recessed grips on either side of this jingle double pair provide for the comfortable holding and for the optimal handling of the Kanjiriqq light. Like on all of our jingle tambourines, the jingles can be changed easily when another jingle sound is desired. The tool to use here is also the tuning wrench.

We offer the Kanjriqq “light” also with 3 different jingle variations.

Shaker “special”   

We are offering a special Shaker for our Tamburelli and the Kanjiriqq that was developed because of a suggestion from the percussionist Andrea Piccioni: there is now a Shaker both for the single row jingle tambourine as well as for the double row models that can be mounted in the place of a jingle pair and makes a large variety of effects possible.

Please indicate for which Kanjiriqq the Shaker is needed.
