The Gong Drum is the giant of the drum family!

Its sound, even with the lightest play is unmistakably deep and when struck in a strong, dynamic way it becomes a thunderous rolling fortissimo.

The corpus of the Gong Drum is made from stable beech wood and has horse hide stretched on both sides. As with all of our drums, special attention is paid to how the skin is stretched over the frame so that the drum area is given a precise boundary that then runs softly over the edge of the frame. The special stretching of both hides with lugs that are also used on the Conga makes it possible to tune the drumheads independently of each other. This is made effortless with the special tuning key that is included. The Gong Drum is suspended on a stable stand and makes it possible for two people to play the drum from two different sides at the same time.

The Gong Drum is an imposing, impressive instrument with a multitude of potential uses such as in theater, performance, music therapy, group therapy, concert and stage shows.

In addition to this professional Gong Drum that has stretched hides on both sides, we also offer a Gong Drum that is stretched on one side only.

On request, we can also make Gong Drums in other sizes and also stretched with cow hide.

African Gong Drum

A Gong Drum with both sides stretched with unshaved cow hides, with the same construction as the African Table Drum. The corpus is made with the barrel construction method. Stretched with cords like the Djembe.
