We have developed this new type of Frame Drum in cooperation with the psychologist Dr. Bernard Mack, and we have given it the name Core Drum^®. “Core” is standing here for the essence and also for the heart.

In the category “Frame Drum” is the Core Drum^® very unique in that the characteristics of a Frame Drum with that of a Shaman Drum are positively combined: the lightness of a Frame Drum with its open tonal diversity and its distinctive overtones is symbiotically complimented by the expressiveness and the handling of a Shaman Drum.

The fascination of the Core Drum^® lies in its long vibration characteristics that are almost reminiscent of a Gong. This unique sound characteristic is made possible by a special patented vibration-free mounting of the holding cross on the inside of this Frame Drum. Whereas while playing a classic Frame Drum one necessarily holds the drum by the frame, thereby impeding its vibration potential, the Core Drum^® can vibrate in its entirety thus allowing unhindered development of its sound.

A total of 12 tuning screws that are built into the frame make fine tuning at a desired pitch possible so that it can be used in tonal music pieces as well as for supporting the voice of the player.

The intentionally simple design of the holding cross of the Core Drum^® is very sturdy,and its light weight guarantees free and easy handling during play.

We offer the Core Drum^® in 2 variations:

Stretched with fine goat skin, which supports the singing overtones. The model with the thicker deer skin brings out the deeper tones of a Shaman drum.

The Core Drum^® is delivered including a drum stick.

Stand

This stand with sprocket offers, in combination with the holding cross, the possibility of securely mounting both the Core Drum^® and the Kara Def as a set or individually.The drums on the stand can be tilted at different angles and the heighth is adjustable to 110 cm (approx. 43"). Several frame drums tuned to each other allow for tones and sounds that have very long reverberations, like the Pauke, to be achieved.

Holding Cross for Stand   

The holding cross, made of beech wood is simply mounted on the sprocket and serves as a holder for the Core Drum^® or the Kara Def. Therefore these frame drums can be securely mounted on the stand easily and without tools.

Stick Holder for Stand   

The stick holder that attaches to the middle bar of the stand holds two sticks and can be tilted.
